Paphos district EOA puts crews on standby as extreme weather forecast

Paphos, Cyprus. The Paphos district government organisation (EOA) said four emergency response crews are on standby as extreme weather is forecast to affect the region.

Crews placed on alert

EOA president Charalambos Pittokopitis said on Thursday that the organisation is prepared to respond immediately if incidents occur.

Weather expected and monitoring underway

Paphos is expected to experience rain and strong winds, with the EOA and local municipalities monitoring the situation.

No incidents reported as of Thursday morning

Pittokopitis said that as of Thursday morning there were no causes for concern regarding weather-related incidents such as landslides or other reported incidents, adding that the EOA is ready to intervene in an emergency.

Public urged to take precautions

Pittokopitis appealed to the public to be vigilant, limit activities to a minimum, and urged drivers to travel at low speeds, saying general caution is required to avoid unpleasant incidents.

Areas covered

The emergency crews will cover the wider Paphos area, as well as the municipalities of Akamas, Hierokipia and Polis Chrysochous.
