Nicosia, Cyprus. Police and the Health Insurance Organisation (HIO) warned on Monday that false and malicious text messages posing as notifications from the national health system, Gesy, are still being sent.

Public urged to delete messages

Recipients should be particularly careful and delete the messages immediately without opening any links, the police and HIO said. The scammers aim to make the messages appear to come from Gesy.

The HIO said it never asks beneficiaries by text message for passwords, login details, payment or other data, and does not send links for payments.
