Nicosia, Cyprus. Police arrested 11 individuals during overnight operations, mainly for possession of drugs, theft and causing grievous bodily harm. The checks also led to hundreds of traffic offence reports and several vehicle impoundments.


Arrests and vehicle checks

Police said 473 vehicles were pulled over, while drivers and 201 passengers were checked during the overnight operations. A total of 304 reports were filed for traffic offences.

Traffic violations recorded

Of the traffic reports, 84 were for speeding. One driver was reported for drink driving and two others for driving under the influence of drugs. Seven cars were impounded.

Establishment inspections

Police also checked 29 establishments and filed three reports.

According to police, the overnight operations are aimed at cracking down on crime and instilling a sense of security among the public.
