Police investigate suspected arson in Yeri car park fire

Yeri, Cyprus. Police said investigators believe a fire that broke out in a car park in the Nicosia district village may have been started intentionally. The blaze destroyed two cars and burned about two acres of dry grassland.

Fire response

The fire started at 4.15pm on Saturday, police said. Fire brigade spokesman Andreas Kettis said five fire engines were deployed, including four from the fire brigade and one from the forestry department.

Investigation ongoing

Police said their investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing.
