Presidential palace to open art and antiquities collection to public
A pilot guided visit programme beginning on October 3 will give adults access to Cypriot art and archaeological artefacts at the presidential palace.

Nicosia, Cyprus. The public will be able to explore art and antiquities at the presidential palace through a new guided visit programme for the first time, it was announced on Wednesday. The pilot programme begins on October 3, coinciding with Independence Day.
Collection and access
Launched by First Lady Philippa Karsera Christodoulides, the “Presidential Palace Open to Citizens” initiative aims to improve public access to the nationally significant building and promote awareness of Cyprus’ artistic and cultural heritage.
The visits will showcase “Cyprus: the World, the Place, the Word, the Matter,” a collection of Cypriot art and archaeological artefacts spanning thousands of years.
Art, antiquities and archives
The exhibition includes works by Adamantios Diamantis, Paul Georgiou, Telemachos Kanthou and Michael Kassialos, alongside works by contemporary artists. The artworks come from the Presidential Palace, the State Collection, the Leventis Gallery and the artists’ family collections.
Rare items from the Department of Antiquities include Cypriot figurines and sculptures dating from the fourth millennium BC to the first century BC.
Visitors can also use the “Time Machine,” an interactive app created by the Cyprus Institute’s Virtual Environments Laboratory. It connects the collection with Cyprus’ recent history through archival material from the Press and Information Office.
First visit
The first organised visit is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, with 150 places available for people aged 18 and over.
