PwC Cyprus CEO-elect says AI is a defining force for business competitiveness

Nicosia, Cyprus. PwC Cyprus CEO-elect Andreas Yiasemides said artificial intelligence is no longer a future ambition or a technology experiment on the margins of business, but a defining force behind how organisations operate, compete and create value. He said the focus has shifted from what AI could do to how it is already transforming enterprises.

Enterprise value

Yiasemides said businesses around the world have spent the past few years experimenting extensively with Generative AI, often by launching pilots, testing productivity tools and exploring isolated use cases. He said relatively few companies have managed to turn that experimentation into measurable enterprise-wide value.

He said the next competitive advantage will not come simply from using AI tools, but from redesigning how organisations function.

As he prepares to take on the role of CEO of PwC Cyprus, Yiasemides said AI is not only a technology issue but also a matter of leadership, evolution and turning strategy into meaningful results.

Cyprus competitiveness

Yiasemides described artificial intelligence as primarily a competitiveness issue for Cyprus. He said the country’s small market can be an advantage because smaller ecosystems can adapt faster and create closer cooperation between businesses, the state and academia.
