SafeIsland CY wildfire reporting app launches in pilot phase

Nicosia, Cyprus. A free mobile app enabling people to report signs of wildfires, receive nearby alerts and access fire-safety information has launched in Cyprus. SafeIsland CY was developed by Brickworks Games and launched by TechIsland in collaboration with Kitas Weather.

Pilot platform

Available on iOS and Android during an initial pilot phase, SafeIsland CY combines wildfire reports, nearby alerts and fire-safety information through an interactive map.

Kitas Weather will administer the platform during the pilot, support the provision of timely updates and assist in reviewing and verifying information submitted through the app.

Community reporting

The app was developed as part of the TechIsland Wildfire Initiative, established by TechIsland following the wildfires of 2025 to support affected communities and strengthen wildfire prevention, preparedness and immediate response.

Designed as a community-powered public-safety tool, SafeIsland CY aims to improve early awareness and allow communities to share information more quickly during periods of increased wildfire risk.

It is intended particularly for residents in rural, mountain and high-risk areas, where early local information can be important.

App features

Users can report smoke or fire by placing a pin on the map, add a photo or a short description, receive alerts about nearby community reports and view active reports on a live map.

The app is intended to help users access local information while at home, on the road, in rural areas or near the mountains, where people may notice smoke, blocked roads or changing wind conditions before information becomes widely available.

SafeIsland CY is not intended to replace emergency services. In cases of immediate danger, citizens should contact the relevant authorities through official emergency channels.
