Nicosia, Cyprus. School supply prices have remained at the same level as last year, with products available for different budgets, the executive secretary of the supermarket association, Andreas Hadjiadamou, said on Thursday.

He said supermarkets were maintaining prices through cooperation with importers and direct imports from markets not facing inflationary pressure.

Availability and demand

Hadjiadamou told the Cyprus News Agency that the association had visited shops and supermarkets in recent days and found school supplies already displayed at what he described as the best possible prices.

School bags were in highest demand, followed by exercise books and stationery, while consumers had a broad choice of products available.

“We make sure there are options for every need and every budget,” he said.

Retail offers

Hadjiadamou said supermarkets were placing emphasis on lower-priced and mid-range products, with many also offering loyalty points and customer reward programmes.

While stationery was previously mainly sold in specialised shops and large supermarkets, smaller retailers now also stock school necessities, giving consumers a wider range of options, he added.
