Washington, United States. US President Donald Trump bought between $15,001 and $50,000 in SpaceX shares on July 10 and sold between $1,001 and $15,000 on July 17, according to a public financial disclosure signed on September 8.

The transactions were among more than 1,000 trades Trump made in July and were posted by the Office of Government Ethics on Tuesday.

Disclosure details

Reuters could not immediately determine the precise value of Trump’s SpaceX investment because federal officials disclose asset values in ranges.

The July transactions add another financial link between Trump and the rocket company run by Elon Musk, his former adviser, while the administration makes decisions that could affect the company.

SpaceX valuation and portfolio management

SpaceX priced the biggest-ever US initial public offering on June 12, valuing the space, satellite and AI provider at $1.77 trillion. Reuters had previously reported that Trump bought SpaceX shares in June.

White House spokesman Davis Ingle said at the time that third-party financial institutions independently manage the president’s portfolio and replicate recognised indexes, including the Schwab 1000.

Trump’s spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the July trades.

Government contracts

SpaceX is a US military contractor and frequently seeks approvals from federal agencies.
