Nicosia, Cyprus. Vartkes Mahdessian was on Thursday re-elected as the Armenian Cypriot community’s non-voting representative in parliament. He will serve a fifth five-year term.


Unopposed re-election

Mahdessian was the sole candidate registered for the seat on Wednesday. After 24 hours passed following the close of nominations and no objections were filed, he was proclaimed the winner unopposed.

Term details

The 76-year-old was first elected to the role in 2006. The seat will be up for re-election in 2031.
