Youth United Against Domestic Violence programme brings together young people across Europe

Nicosia, Cyprus. The Erasmus+ initiative Youth United Against Domestic Violence is under way, bringing together young people from different countries to raise awareness of domestic violence and support prevention efforts. The programme runs until July 8.

Programme activities

The initiative helps participants understand the causes and effects of domestic abuse through workshops, group activities and discussions.

Skills development

A key focus of the programme is the development of communication, cooperation and empathy, while encouraging participants to recognise early signs of violence.

Institutional engagement

Participants are engaging with institutions involved in human rights and victim protection, including the commissioners for gender equality and children’s rights, as well as representatives of the Cyprus police.

Support and reporting mechanisms

The initiative also seeks to familiarise young people with support services and reporting mechanisms to support effective responses to incidents.

European cooperation

The programme promotes international cooperation and intercultural dialogue, while strengthening European values including solidarity, equality and respect.

Long-term prevention

The initiative presents the empowerment of young people as essential to creating safer and more inclusive societies and to improving the long-term prevention of domestic violence across Europe.
