Car hire in Cyprus. Only the best deals!

Limassol

Service description

Why hire a car?

‘Why put yourself under unnecessary strain on holiday by getting used to driving on the left?’ many tourists might say. ‘After all, we’ve come here to relax, not to work.’ In response to this, it would be very fitting to quote the words spoken by one of the characters in the well-known novel by Ilf and Petrov: ‘A car is not a luxury, but a means of transport.’

It was only after living in Cyprus for several years that I finally realised just how true this is, and how particularly apt it is for Cyprus. After all, there is a real problem with public transport in Cyprus, and having your own car is not only a way to get from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’ more conveniently, but also a vital necessity for daily journeys to run essential errands, which would be impossible without a private car.

Public transport in Cyprus

Car hire in Cyprus. Only the best deals! So what do the Cypriots offer tourists in the way of public transport?

The choice is limited. You won’t find a metro here, nor the suburban trains, trams or trolleybuses we’re used to. The options are restricted to city buses, which run regularly only in the tourist areas of resort towns, and private taxis.

There are also intercity buses, which are extremely inconvenient for tourists due to their timetables and stops (outside tourist areas). And the so-called ‘Travel Taxi’, which, in theory, can be booked by phone.

In reality, however, based on my most recent experience, you can expect to wait 1.5–2 hours for your booking, after which a very old, ‘on its last legs’ minibus will arrive to take you, for example, from Limassol to Larnaca, but not to the exact location in the city you need to go to, but to one of its designated stops. And this is called a ‘taxi’…

Consequently, your options for convenient and flexible public transport are limited to private taxis. They’re always easy to find, wherever you are, but they’re not cheap.

The minimum fare for a city journey is 6–7 euros; from Limassol to Paphos or Larnaca – 60 euros; from Larnaca Airport to Paphos – 100 euros, and so on… Of course, if your budget for your trip to Cyprus includes taxi fares, your holiday will be enjoyable and comfortable, as most Cypriot taxis are new Mercedes-Benz E-Class cars with a full range of features.

But if you haven’t budgeted for such expenses, your only alternative may be to hire a car.

Car hire in Cyprus. Only the best deals! What cars do we offer?

When putting together our car hire offering in Cyprus, we based our selection on what we consider to be two key criteria.

For the average tourist in Cyprus, a car should be reliable and affordable. With this in mind, we have chosen to partner with several Cypriot car hire companies which are not particularly well-known and do not spend large sums on advertising, unlike the well-known European companies, but are able to provide customers with high-quality cars at the lowest possible rates.

Insurance and carCar hire in Cyprus. Only the best deals! collection

All our cars are insured with an excess. Additional (comprehensive) insurance can be arranged at the customer’s request for an extra charge. You can collect your car from any location convenient for you – at the airport, at your hotel or at your own villa.

Special offers, gifts and bonusesRuins of Agios Sozomenos temple

When renting a car for a period of 4 weeks or more, we offer special rental terms and gifts. For example, as a gift, we offer a case (12 bottles) of excellent wine produced at one of Cyprus’s private wineries. Or – as a bonus – a substantial discount on a private tour for the whole family.

Have a safe journey!

We sincerely wish you a wonderful holiday, a great time, carefree travels and memorable experiences. We hope that your trip to Cyprus will be more than just a ‘beach holiday’ for you, and that very soon you’ll find yourself wanting to come back here again and again…
