Man arrested over three copper cable theft cases in Nicosia district

Nicosia, Cyprus. Police arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with three cases involving the alleged theft of copper from cables in the Nicosia district.

Arrest following Strovolos complaint

The suspect was arrested by members of the Nicosia CID after a construction site employee in Strovolos reported that copper had been stolen from cables at a power facility.

Police said their investigation produced evidence against the 29-year-old, who was arrested shortly after 6pm on Friday.

Further cases under investigation

Further inquiries identified the suspect in two additional cases involving copper stolen from cables in the Nicosia district between Wednesday and Friday.

The man is expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court on Saturday, where police will seek a detention order as investigations continue.
