Nicosia, Cyprus. A 17-year-old boy, named as Iannis Nicolaou, died in a traffic accident on Saturday evening, police said on Sunday. The crash happened in Strovolos, Nicosia.


Crash in Stavroaetou

Police said a 54-year-old driver was travelling along Stavroaetou in Strovolos at around 6.20pm when, under circumstances still under investigation, he crashed into the motorcycle being driven by Nicolaou.

Death confirmed at hospital

Nicolaou was taken by ambulance to Nicosia general hospital, where his death was confirmed at around 8pm.

Alcohol test result

An alcotest carried out on the driver showed a reading of 63μg, while the permitted level is 22μg.
