Visa for Cyprus

The Republic of Cyprus has been a member of the European Union since May 2004. Prior to its official accession to the EU, Cyprus and Russia had a visa-free travel agreement in place. Visas were introduced at the request of the EU leadership.

However, Cyprus is not yet part of the Schengen Area, and the Cypriot government has the right to regulate visa relations with other countries independently. Given the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries, as well as the Cypriot government’s active desire to increase the number of Russian tourists visiting the island each year, the procedure for obtaining a tourist visa to Cyprus for Russian citizens has been simplified as much as possible.

Pro-visa

Pro-visa is effectively a visa-free travel scheme for Cyprus. It is available to Russian citizens entering Cyprus directly from Russia. The visa entitles the holder to a single entry with a stay on the island of no more than 90 days within a six-month period.

To obtain a Pro-visa, you must download the form (a Word document) from the website of the Cypriot Embassy in Russia, complete it with the necessary details, including your intended address in Cyprus. No supporting documents are required. The completed electronic application form must be saved on your computer in Word 2003 format (*.doc), adding your first name and surname in Latin characters to the file name. Within 24 hours of submitting your application, you will receive a reply email with a file containing your visa attached. You must print out the visa and take it with you.

Multiple-entry visa

The following documents are required to obtain a multiple-entry visa:

• a passport valid for at least 6 months, and a copy of it;
• confirmation of a booking at a hotel or other accommodation where the applicant intends to stay;
• in the case of a private invitation, a letter of invitation from the inviting party, drawn up on a special form and accompanied by a copy of their passport;
• if the inviting person is not a Cypriot national, a copy of a document confirming their residence permit in Cyprus is required;
• a visa application form, which must be certified by a local notary.

The processing time for the visa is one working day. You can obtain a visa to enter Cyprus from third countries in the same way.

Please note that this visa is not a Schengen visa and entitles the holder to enter only the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
