Nicosia, Cyprus. The Cyprus Financial Literacy and Education Committee (CyFLEC) on Tuesday launched moneypedia.cy, a national digital financial literacy portal aimed at providing citizens with reliable economic information.
The platform is a flagship initiative of Cyprus’ National Strategy for Financial Literacy and Financial Education and brings together integrated, evidence-based and accessible resources in one digital location.
Financial guidance for all age groups
According to CyFLEC, moneypedia.cy is intended to serve people of all ages and levels of financial expertise, including students, young people, families, employees, entrepreneurs and pensioners.
The portal covers financial decisions ranging from budgeting and saving to borrowing, investing, insurance and retirement planning. It provides explanations of key financial concepts and practical guidance tailored to different life stages.
Digital tools and educational resources
Users of the platform can access interactive decision-support tools, financial calculators, educational videos, tailored quizzes and practical guides.
The name moneypedia was selected through a participatory evaluation process involving students, university scholars, educators, academics and committee representatives. The title was chosen for being concise, engaging and clear in its educational purpose.
Funding and future updates
Development funding for the portal was secured by the Central Bank of Cyprus through the Finance Ministry, with support from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support in cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
European funding supported three initiatives under the national strategy. Project oversight was managed by the Coordination and Management Team, while board members and academic partners contributed content.
CyFLEC said moneypedia.cy will operate as an evolving digital platform, with ongoing updates planned for its tools, announcements, educational materials and practical resources.
