The Doctors’ Trade Union (PASYKI), which is against the new legislation, has organised 3-hour strike in the Makarios hospital in Nicosia.
In accordance with the new proposed legislation, the students of the Medical school of the Cyprus University will be able to make their internship in the State hospitals. The Head of the trade union added that if this is implemented, then “there will be two Head doctors – the existing and one from University. The latter will have the right to manage the staff of the hospital as well and it will create chaos”.
According to the strikers, the representatives of both sides of the conflict met with the Minister of Health in order to discuss their positions.
