Paphos, Cyprus. Ethos Vin, located in a restored stone building in the historic part of Paphos Old Town, has marked its one-year anniversary. The venue offers an extensive wine list, cocktails, Mediterranean-style sharing dishes, and live music.
Setting and atmosphere
Ethos Vin is housed in a stone building in the historic area of the Old Town. The main room is large, with a central bar, tables and booths, and a restored interior shaped by a renovation that took many years.
On a mid-week evening, the courtyard garden provided an alternative seating area. Surrounded by high walls and wrought-iron gates facing a pedestrianised street, the courtyard became more striking after dark as the plants were illuminated, while outdoor heaters were lit as the temperature dropped.
Drinks selection
Guests were asked about drinks on arrival, with a sommelier named Genadi assisting at the table. Although mocktails were not listed on the menu, they were available, and a non-alcoholic wine was recommended.
The wine list includes 250 wines, with prices ranging from €30 to €8,000. The cocktail list features more than 30 options.
Food menu
The menu is relatively limited and is based on the Mediterranean concept of sharing dishes.
Among the starters, the beef carpaccio was served with truffle emulsion, walnuts, rucola and parmesan. Another starter, burrata with red peppers, came with roasted red peppers, herb dressing and pine nuts, and was served with sourdough bread for an additional €5.
Main courses and dessert
The main courses selected were sea bass and chicken. The sea bass fillet was served on spinach and mussels with a creamy sauce. The chicken was served with buttermilk sauce and leeks.
Dessert options were limited to two choices: silky chocolate mousse and lime and raspberry cheesecake. The chocolate mousse was made with 60 per cent chocolate.
Service and entertainment
Service was efficient throughout the meal. Assistant manager Demetris said the venue hosts evenings with live music, and guests may wish to check in advance whether a performance is scheduled.
In addition to diners, some guests visited for a glass of wine or a cocktail. The venue also offers a selection of platters.

Ethos Vin is located at 16 Kosta Karnavalou, Paphos Old Town.
It is open Monday to Thursday and Sunday from 6pm to 1am, and Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 1.30am.
