MPs are concerned with the halloumi production methods

The MPs are concerned about the production of halloumi from the powder milk.

According to the data, which was announced at the meeting of the agricultural committee, it was revealed that the total availability of the cow, sheep and goat milk on the island is twice as less as the amount of halloumi that was produced. The maximum possible quantity of the cheese that could’ve been produced is 13,000 tons, whereas the actual production was higher by 10,000 tons.

The head of the committee said that the governmental control over the import and use of dry milk seized to exist back in 2013. In connection with the above, the committee will urge the government to take more decisive steps in order to resolve the matter.
