Nissi Beach ranked Europe’s second best beach for 2026

Ayia Napa, Cyprus. Nissi Beach has been ranked the second best beach in Europe for 2026 by UK travel insurance specialists Quotezone, adding to Cyprus’ tourism appeal as the sector is reported to be on a stable recovery path.

The beach was ranked behind Mogren Beach in Montenegro and ahead of destinations including Playa de Maspalomas in Gran Canaria.

European beach index

Quotezone’s 2026 European Beach Index assessed 10 beaches across popular holiday destinations using sea and air temperatures, five-star visitor reviews, accommodation costs, drink prices and distance from the nearest airport.

Mogren Beach, near Budva in Montenegro, topped the ranking. The study cited its Adriatic coastline, warm summer weather and comparatively low holiday costs.

A three-day stay in Budva costs just under £195, while a draft beer costs less than £1.50, according to the study.

Cyprus ranking

Nissi Beach, which topped the index last year, retained a leading position due to its turquoise waters, average summer sea temperatures above 27 degrees Celsius and average air temperatures nearing 29 degrees Celsius.

Quotezone said Cyprus remained popular with holidaymakers for its resort atmosphere and golden sandy beaches. However, average accommodation costs of £318.85 for a three-day stay placed Nissi Beach behind Mogren Beach.

Other destinations

Playa de Maspalomas in Gran Canaria ranked third. The index cited its high review scores, year-round sunshine and more than 5,000 five-star reviews.

The ranking follows comments by Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis, who said Cyprus tourism had returned to a stable recovery path after the Statistical Service published its latest tourism revenue figures.
