Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus and France strengthened search and rescue cooperation through the joint maritime exercise CYFRA 04/26, held on Wednesday.
The exercise was coordinated by the search and rescue coordination centre and involved French and Cypriot air and maritime assets, as well as the ambulance service’s specialised Medevacteam.
Participating assets
A French warship and its onboard helicopter took part in the exercise.
Cypriot participants included a helicopter from the port and maritime police, an air force helicopter from the National Guard’s 460th aviation squadron and a police helicopter.

The centre said the exercise was part of the defence cooperation programme between Cyprus and France.
It was intended to further develop cooperation with the French armed forces on search and rescue matters and provide crews with training in operational procedures for responding to incidents at sea.
