Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus registered a record September for tourism, with 580,889 arrivals, according to data published on Monday by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat). The total represented an annual increase of 1.8 per cent, as gains from Israel, Britain and Greece outweighed sharp falls in several European markets.

Tourism returns to growth

Cystat’s figures put September arrivals above the 570,635 recorded in September 2025. They also showed a 14 per cent increase compared with September 2024, when the island received 509,463 tourists.

The September rise followed a 3.3 per cent decline in August. Deputy Tourism Minister Kostas Koumis said the result demonstrated that tourism was recovering from disruption linked to geopolitical tensions affecting the Middle East.

The figures indicated longer-term growth in tourism despite the challenging opening to 2026.

Property transfers total €3.72 billion

Separately, the Real Estate Agents Registration Council reported that completed property transfers totalled €3.72 billion during January–September 2026, an annual increase in value of 6.6 per cent. The number of completed transfers grew by approximately 4.1 per cent.

The council’s analysis, based on department of lands and surveys data, showed 14,969 deposited sales contracts nationwide, up 14 per cent from 13,173 in the equivalent period of 2025.

According to the council’s figures, property activity maintained its growth over the nine-month period after a strong 2025.
