Nicosia, Cyprus. Retail trade turnover in Cyprus, excluding motor vehicles, increased by 11 per cent in value and 8.9 per cent in volume in July 2026 compared with the same month a year earlier, according to the Statistical Service of Cyprus (Cystat).

The Turnover Value Index reached 161.1 units and the Turnover Volume Index rose to 144.2 units, based on an average of 100 units in 2021.


January to July performance

During the first seven months of 2026, total retail turnover value increased by 7.9 per cent, while sales volume rose by 8.9 per cent compared with the corresponding period of 2025.

The turnover value index measures current market prices excluding VAT. The volume index is adjusted using the Consumer Price Index to reflect real purchasing activity.

Sector developments

Automotive fuel sales increased by 17.2 per cent in value and 3.4 per cent in volume.

Retail sales through non-store channels rose by 15.2 per cent in value and 17 per cent in volume.

Household equipment, including furniture, electrical appliances and construction materials, recorded a 15 per cent increase in value and a 13.1 per cent rise in volume.

Information and communication equipment turnover value increased by 14.2 per cent, while sales volume rose by 25.6 per cent.

Cultural and recreational goods, including books, toys and sports equipment, registered an 11.1 per cent increase in turnover value and a 13.2 per cent rise in volume.
