Limassol, Cyprus. A fire at an abandoned house in Ayia Zoni on Sunday evening was reportedly started deliberately, the fire brigade said on Monday. The blaze extensively damaged the house’s contents and affected part of a neighbouring property.


Fire response and damage

Two fire engines responded to the incident at about 9.40pm and brought the fire under control at 9.58pm.

The fire and heat extensively damaged the contents of the abandoned house. Part of the pergola roof of a neighbouring house was also damaged.

Investigation

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Initial findings indicate that it was deliberately started.
