Paphos, Cyprus. The forestry department said it had finished a €52,000 project aimed at protecting Cyprus mouflon within Paphos state forest.

Gaps in roadside barriers

Writing on Facebook, the department said openings had been made in protective barriers beside forest roads so the animals could move without obstruction, lowering the risk of becoming trapped within the network of roads.

According to the department, EU co-funding supported the project, which met much of the outstanding need in the forest areas selected for the work.

The department said it would continue its work on wildlife protection and management within state forests.
