Nicosia, Cyprus. Girls in STEAM Academy is bringing its free BridgeSTEAM programme back for a sixth year on November 14 and 15, welcoming girls aged 14–16 from throughout Cyprus. According to the organisers, the two-day event at the PwC Experience Centre will introduce participants to coding, technology and possible career paths.

Practical learning and career guidance

The academy says the programme brings together students interested in STEAM—science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics—and welcomes those without any background in these subjects. Its aim is to encourage more girls to pursue technology-related education and employment through practical learning, guidance from professionals and contact with women in the sector.

According to the organisers, participants will develop coding and digital skills through practical workshops, while career sessions will examine options for education and employment. Women in STEAM roles will also share accounts of their studies, the choices that shaped their careers and their working lives.

The organisers say the programme will develop communication skills, collaboration and self-confidence alongside technical knowledge. Participants will also be encouraged to explore ways technology could address social challenges associated with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Applications and continuing opportunities

The academy says applications can be made using the online registration form until November 4. There is no participation fee or requirement for prior coding knowledge, and the workshops welcome both girls already interested in science and technology and those who simply want to find out more.

According to the academy, more than 3,200 girls have graduated from its educational initiatives since 2021. BridgeSTEAM builds on that work, with participants also receiving access to an alumni network that shares information on further study and professional opportunities both in Cyprus and overseas.
