Police arrest 10 in overnight urban operations targeting criminal activity

Nicosia, Cyprus. Ten people were arrested during overnight police operations in urban areas targeting criminal activity, with offences including impersonation, illegal residence, assault and illegal possession of tobacco products. Police also carried out extensive vehicle, passenger and establishment checks.

Arrests and inspections

The overnight operations led to the arrest of 10 people for various offences. Police also inspected establishments and filed four reports.

Vehicle and driver checks

Police stopped 554 vehicles and checked their drivers, along with 168 passengers. Seven drivers were booked for drink driving, two for driving under the influence of drugs and 95 for speeding. Nine vehicles were impounded.

Traffic violations

During the inspections, 291 people were reported for traffic violations. Police also found eight people with pending traffic offence investigations.
