Nicosia, Cyprus. Police arrested 12 people during a nationwide overnight operation involving organised patrols and targeted checks in key urban areas. The operation focused on preventing serious crime, maintaining public order and increasing public safety.


Arrests and premises checks

The arrests involved alleged offences including illegal possession of drugs, drink-driving, illegal stay in the Republic, car theft, theft and malicious damage.

Police also conducted 56 checks at premises as part of efforts to tackle offending, resulting in six reports.

Traffic enforcement

Officers stopped and checked 838 drivers and 348 passengers during the operation.

Traffic police issued 402 fines for various offences and opened 18 additional cases involving suspected traffic violations. Speeding accounted for 162 fines, while 25 vehicles were impounded.

Police carried out 292 breathalyser tests, resulting in 19 reports. Four drivers also tested positive in preliminary drug-driving tests.
