Argaka, Cyprus. A 16-year-old died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday afternoon after losing control of his vehicle, striking the pavement and overturning.


Crash investigation

Paphos deputy police director Michalis Nicholaou said the accident occurred at about 3.30pm on Archbishop Makarios III Avenue in Argaka.

The teenager, Yiorgos Hadjioannou from Ayia Marina, was travelling west on an unregistered sports motorcycle when he crashed.

Hospital treatment

Hadjioannou was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to Polis Chrysochous hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police found a helmet at the scene and are investigating whether he was wearing it at the time of the crash. Further investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.
