Nicosia, Cyprus. Traffic arrangements around the walled city will change from Monday as works on Konstantinos Palaiologos avenue enter a new phase, the municipality said on Wednesday. Construction section A2 will reopen to traffic, while other restrictions will remain in place.

Route to Oxi roundabout reopens

Section A2, part of the “Regeneration of the Inner Perimeter Arch of the Moat, Phase A” project, serves as the exit lane from Thermopylon Street towards the Oxi roundabout. Its reopening will restore a more direct route for motorists leaving the walled city towards Stasinou avenue and Eleftheria square via the roundabout.

Closures remain in place

Section A3, from the Oxi roundabout to the entrance of the municipal car park at Promachonas Kostantza, will remain closed until mid-December.

The western section of Xanthi Xenierou street will continue to operate as a cul-de-sac. Two-way traffic from Areos street will be allowed only for residents.

Section A4, covering the eastern part of Konstantinos Palaiologos avenue between its junction with Archbishop Makarios II square and the municipal car park at Promachonas Kostantza, will also remain closed. Access will be limited to local residents and emergency vehicles.

The works include excavation for the underground installation of utilities and the reconstruction of roads and pavements. The project is expected to be completed in early 2027.
