Limassol, Cyprus. Police are investigating an attempted car arson case after a 63-year-old man found damage to a tyre on his parked vehicle. A 19-year-old woman has been arrested and remanded for five days.


Vehicle damage

At about 11.45pm on August 28, 2026, the man found damage to the rear left tyre of his vehicle while it was parked in the parking area of the apartment building where he lives in Limassol.

Police officers who examined the scene determined that the damage was caused following an attempt to set the vehicle on fire.

Arrest and detention

During the investigation, police said evidence emerged against the 19-year-old woman. She was located and arrested under a court warrant shortly before 6pm on Sunday.

She appeared before the Limassol District Court on Monday morning, which issued a five-day detention order to assist the investigation.

The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department continues its inquiries.
