Cyprus’s online public services: gov.cy, CY Login and Digital Citizen
How to find a service, verify your account, submit an application securely and save your progress.

Checked: 28 September 2026.
Three different elements of digital services
The gov.cy portal helps you find public services and official guidance. CY Login is a mechanism for logging in and verifying your identity for supported services. The Digital Citizen app displays the available digital documents and functions. These elements are linked, but a single registration does not automatically grant access to all procedures.
Start with a specific task: a statement, an application, booking an appointment or checking the status of your application. Find the relevant service page on gov.cy and read who is eligible to apply, what documents are required and whether the process can be completed online. Some procedures require in-person verification, payment or a visit to a specific government office.
The official website takes precedence over instructions found in search results or social media posts. Make a note of the URL and the date of your check: button labels and requirements are subject to change. If your residency status or representation is non-standard, do not base your conclusions on the example of a citizen with a fully verified account.
CY Login registration and verification
To use the services, you may need to create a CY Login and verify your identity in accordance with the current procedure. Make a note of the email address linked to your account and the recovery options available. Use a personal email address that you always have access to, rather than a work email address, which you may lose if you change jobs.
Digital Citizen highlights the need for a verified CY Login and two-factor authentication for the relevant functions. Set up two-factor authentication on your own device and save a secure recovery method. Do not pass on your login codes to an intermediary, even if they promise to speed up the process of obtaining your document.
If the details on your passport, your name or your date of birth do not match across different systems, do not create multiple accounts at random. Contact the official support team, providing a description of the discrepancy and only the documents required. A photograph of the error, without any personal identification numbers visible, is sufficient for your initial enquiry.
How to apply safely
On the service page, check the list of supported applications, file formats and size limits. Prepare legible scans of the entire document, including the reverse side where required. Enter the details from the documents themselves, rather than from memory; even a small error in a number can halt the automated verification process.
Before submitting, check the final screen: the recipient, the contact details for a reply, the service and any attachments. Make a copy of the application and keep the reference number or receipt. A screenshot of the ‘Done’ screen without the reference number may not be sufficient for the service to locate your application.
If the portal freezes after you have made a payment or submitted a request, first check your transaction history and your bank statement. Resubmitting the request may result in a duplicate entry or a second payment. If the outcome is unclear, please contact support, stating the date, the service and the technical error, and do not repeat the payment without confirmation.
Digital document attached
Please check in which situations a particular digital document is accepted within Cyprus. The fact that it is available in the app does not mean that it replaces a physical passport for international travel. Check the rules of the carrier and the country of destination via their respective official sources.
Before visiting the organisation, check that your mobile phone is charged, that you can access your account, and that you can show your document without handing your device to a stranger. If the app is unavailable, ask the organisation for an alternative paper document. Do not rely on an old screenshot as sufficient proof that the information is up to date.
If you lose your device, change your password and revoke any active sessions or login methods in accordance with the service’s instructions. Secure your phone with a passcode and keep it up to date. Digital convenience does not eliminate the risk of unauthorised access to your personal documents via an unlocked device.
If the service is not available online
An error message may indicate an unverified account, a service not available for your status, a temporary glitch or a data mismatch. Make a note of the exact stage and time, but do not post a screenshot showing your personal number and address on the forum. Check the official status page or contact the relevant department.
Some applicants require a representative or must attend in person. Please check the format of the power of attorney and the requirements regarding original documents directly with the relevant authority. Do not send your set of documents to a private ‘assistant’ without a contract, a clearly defined role and a secure channel for data transmission.
If the deadline is approaching, ask the department which alternative channel will ensure the date of submission is recorded. A letter sent to a general email address is not always equivalent to an official application. Keep a copy of the staff member’s reply and the delivery confirmation via your chosen method.
Plan for the first digital service
Select one task on gov.cy, read the terms and conditions, then set up a CY Login account and prepare the required documents. Check your two-factor authentication and account recovery options before the deadline. For paid services, check the official payment method in advance and do not click on links in messages of unknown origin.
Once you have submitted your application, make a note of the reference number, keep a copy of the form and note the expected response time. Check the status via your official online account, not just in your inbox. If any new requirements arise, reply using the same application so that the department can link the documents together.
The gov.cy, CY Login and Digital Citizen portals were checked on 28 September 2026. The range of services and methods of identity verification are subject to change; the instructions provided by the relevant department take precedence. This guide is intended to help you navigate the services, but does not guarantee that every issue can be resolved entirely online.
Handling personal data
Access the service via gov.cy, not via an advert. Before uploading a document, check the domain, the name of the relevant authority and whether each field is required. If the form unexpectedly asks for your bank account password or remote access to your phone, stop what you are doing and contact customer support.
Do not set up a shared family account for several adults: applications and digital documents must be linked to the correct person. If you are helping a relative, find out what the prescribed method of representation is. Sharing your login details instead of formalising a power of attorney could compromise security and make it difficult to trace your activity history.
Once the service is complete, delete any unnecessary copies of your passport from the downloads folder on the shared computer and log out of your account. Keep only the necessary receipts in a secure archive. If you receive an email asking you to resubmit your personal details, verify the request via your account or by calling the department’s official telephone number.
