Nicosia, Cyprus. Deposit interest rates increased while consumer borrowing costs declined in June 2026, according to data released by the Central Bank of Cyprus on Monday. Pure new lending rose to €626.20 million, driven by large corporate loans.
Deposit rates
The interest rate on household deposits with an agreed maturity of up to one year rose to 1.42 per cent in June from 1.25 per cent in May.
The corresponding rate for deposits held by non-financial corporations increased to 1.41 per cent from 1.31 per cent a month earlier.
Consumer and housing lending
The interest rate on consumer credit fell to 6.50 per cent in June from 6.95 per cent in May.
Housing loan rates edged down to 4.04 per cent from 4.06 per cent in the previous month.
The CBC said the weighted average rate on housing loans may fluctuate monthly because the portfolio includes different types of lending, such as loans for primary residences and holiday homes, which carry different risk levels and interest rates.
It said changes in the composition of new housing lending can affect the average rate independently of changes in banks’ lending rates.
Corporate lending and new loans
The interest rate on loans of up to €1 million to non-financial corporations increased to 4.32 per cent in June from 4.27 per cent in May.
For corporate loans exceeding €1 million, the average interest rate rose to 4.07 per cent from 3.85 per cent.
Pure new lending reached €626.20 million in June, compared with €361.90 million in May.
