Aradippou, Cyprus. A 33-year-old man was seriously injured in an alleged stabbing in the early hours of Sunday, and a 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Police found the injured man on a road in the Aradippou area shortly before 1am after receiving information about an injured person.
Hospital treatment
The man was taken by ambulance to Larnaca general hospital. Medical examinations found injuries to his body and hands allegedly caused by a sharp object, police said.
He was later transferred to Nicosia general hospital, where he remains under treatment in serious condition.
Investigation continues
Police said their investigation indicated that the 33-year-old was allegedly attacked by the 21-year-old suspect.
The suspect was arrested as police continue investigating the circumstances of the incident, which is being treated as attempted murder.
