Nicosia, Cyprus. Police arrested 19 people during overnight checks conducted islandwide for a range of alleged offences, including domestic violence, burglary, drug possession and traffic violations.
Operations and arrests
Police said those arrested were being investigated for alleged domestic violence, burglary, illegal possession of property, drug possession, possession of an offensive weapon, illegal residence in Cyprus and traffic offences.
During the operations, officers checked 848 people, stopped 620 vehicles and inspected 50 premises. The premises inspections resulted in nine complaints.
Traffic enforcement
Traffic checks resulted in 252 complaints, including 105 for speeding and 25 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police also recorded five suspected drug-driving cases following preliminary tests. A total of 17 vehicles were impounded during the checks.
