Nicosia, Cyprus. A 16-year-old teenager was seriously injured after a car struck the scooter he was riding on Grivas Digenis Avenue in the early hours of Friday.
The teenager underwent surgery at Nicosia general hospital and remains in critical condition.
Collision and investigation
The collision occurred at about 2am as a car was travelling on Grivas Digenis Avenue towards Larnaca Avenue.
The vehicle involved was later found at another location. A 27-year-old believed to have been driving it underwent an alcotest, which recorded blood alcohol of 73µg, above the legal limit of 22µg.
