A memorandum of understanding on kidney donation was signed by the ministers of health of two countries. This means that patients in Cyprus will be able to receive an organ for transplant from a compatible donor from Israel and vice versa.

Cyprus Minister of Health Giorgos Pamboridis said that this will increase the chances of successful organ exchange during transplantation and save lives for thousands of Israelis and Cypriots.

The agreement was signed as part of the first tripartite meeting on health issues between Cyprus, Greece and Israel.

The ministers of health of three countries also published a joint declaration on cooperation to eliminate the negative effects of water and air pollution, as well as joint effort to tackle emergencies and epidemics.
