Cyprus industrial producer prices rise 0.2% in August as energy costs drive EU increases
Industrial producer prices in Cyprus rose 0.2% in August, below the 1.9% increases in the euro area and EU, while annual growth reached 4.2%.

Nicosia, Cyprus. Industrial producer prices in Cyprus rose 0.2 per cent month on month in August, while a sharp increase in energy prices drove rises of 1.9 per cent across both the euro area and European Union, according to Eurostat.
Monthly and annual price increases
The August increase in Cyprus followed a 1.8 per cent rise in July and was considerably smaller than the increases recorded in the euro area and EU, figures from Eurostat, the European Union’s statistical office, showed.
Compared with August 2025, industrial producer prices in Cyprus were 4.2 per cent higher. Annual increases reached 8.2 per cent in the euro area and 8.0 per cent across the EU.
Industrial turnover grows as exports decline
The figures come as Cyprus’ industrial sector continues to record higher turnover, although the latest Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) data show a widening gap between domestic demand and export performance.
Cyprus’ Industrial Turnover Index rose 5 per cent year on year in July to 168.8 units. A 7.4 per cent increase in domestic market demand more than offset an 8.6 per cent decline in exports.
For the first seven months of 2026, industrial turnover was 3.9 per cent higher than in the corresponding period of 2025.
Different monthly price trends
The latest Eurostat data show that industrial producer prices in Cyprus followed a markedly different monthly path from the euro area and EU during much of the first half of the year.
Cyprus recorded a 0.6 per cent fall in March, followed by increases of 0.3 per cent in April, 3.2 per cent in May, 0.3 per cent in June, 1.8 per cent in July and 0.2 per cent in August.
In the euro area, prices rose 3.4 per cent in March, 0.6 per cent in April and 0.2 per cent in May. They then fell 0.3 per cent in June before increasing 1.6 per cent in July and 1.9 per cent in August.
