Engomi, Cyprus. A three-year-old boy who fell from a balcony in Engomi on Saturday evening died from a severe head injury, according to autopsy findings released on Monday. Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

The autopsy was performed by state pathologists Angeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou. It found that the child had sustained multiple injuries to his body and vital organs.

The boy was pronounced dead at Nicosia General Hospital after falling about 20 metres from the sixth floor of an apartment block on Andrea Mitropoulou Street at around 6pm on Saturday.

His parents, aged 32 and 33, were arrested on suspicion of causing death through negligence. They were remanded in police custody for five days on Sunday.

The family, of African descent, was legally residing in the apartment where the incident occurred. Nicosia police are investigating the exact circumstances.
