You are invited to take a truly memorable trip to the capital of our island!
Join us to see the old Venetian walls — Nicosia’s grand fortifications created under the leadership of Italian military engineers. The city of Nicosia used to be accessible only through one of the three most famous gates – Kyrenia, Paphos and Famagusta.
On our journey to Nicosia, we will stop at Limassol, where we will visit Cyprus Land – the first project in Cyprus, dedicated to the Middle Ages. It includes the largest 3D island model in Europe, based on old drawings. The audio guide will keep you informed of the main events and traditions of this ancient island. You will see the castles and monasteries of Cyprus, the old cities and ports, and learn where the Knights used to live.
In Nicosia, we will walk through the Old Town. Located in the heart of the city, Ledra Street is one of the main shopping streets of Nicosia. It is just over a kilometre in length but is divided — the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on one side, and the Republic of Cyprus on the other. Ledra Street is accessible only to pedestrians giving you plenty of opportunities to shop in the local stores, explore, and make the necessary purchases.
Next, we will cross the so-called ‘Green Line’ into the occupied part of Nicosia where we will have the opportunity to see St. Sophia, the Catholic Cathedral built in the 13th century.
While walking through the streets of Nicosia, you will notice the cultural and religious diversity- the mosques in the former Catholic and Orthodox churches, caravanserais, and much more. After our relaxing and educational day in Nicosia, we will return to Paphos.
