Anthestiria — the flower festival and parade in Limassol

Saturday 13^th and Sunday 14^th of May

Anthestiria – is the celebration of spring and awakening of the nature, which came to Cyprus from ancient Greece. This festival was inspired by the ancient celebrations which were held in Athens to worship Dionys- the God of wine and prosperity. Athestiria was also the carnival where people were celebrating the spring awakening of human and nature.

The programme of the flower festival in Limassol includes the exhibition of flowers, flower parade and open air flower market, as well as various musical and dancing performances.

The grand opening of the flower festival will take place on Saturday 13^th of May at 19:00.

The flower exhibition, as well as concert of Cypriot musicians and dancers will take place on the Germasogeia parking lot.

The flower parade will start at 18:00 at the crossing of the Georgiou A’ and Christaki Kranou Str on Sunday 14^th of May.
