Nicosia, Cyprus. Police arrested 11 people during overnight operations across the island targeting petty crime, authorities said on Monday. The arrests concerned alleged drug possession, residence-document violations, grievous bodily harm, malicious damage and traffic offences.
Checks and inspections
Officers stopped 579 vehicles, checked 749 people and inspected 43 premises during the operation.
Four citations were issued following the premises inspections.
Traffic enforcement
Police issued 377 traffic citations, including 118 for speeding.
Officers also conducted 174 breathalyser tests, resulting in nine citations for drink driving. Eight preliminary drug tests were carried out, with one producing a positive result.
