For nationals of third countries (non-EU), the long-term planning to immigrate or stay in Cyprus, provides for the issuance of the following types of visas.
Categories
Category A: a person intending to work self-employed in agriculture, animal husbandry, breeding poultry or fish in the Republic of Cyprus, provided that they already own the land or have permission for the acquisition thereof, as well as having the available funds in the amount of €430,000, provided that such activities are not detrimental to the economy of Cyprus.
Category B: Persons intending to work self-employed in the copper mining enterprises of the Republic of Cyprus, provided that they have permission and they have capital in the amount of €350,000 at their disposal, provided that such activities are not detrimental the Cypriot economy.
Category C: Persons who intend to work self-employed in trade or engage in other professional activities, provided that they have permission and available funds in the amount of €260,000, provided that such activities are not detrimental to the economy of Cyprus.
Category D: Persons who intend to engage in scientific activities in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, provided that they have academic or professional qualifications in professions for which there is demand in the Republic of Cyprus. Availability of sufficient funds is also a prerequisite.
Category E: Persons who have been offered permanent employment in the Republic of Cyprus, and this employment does not affect the creation of competition between Cypriot and EU citizens.
Category F: Persons who have funds or annual income sufficient to live in Cyprus, excluding the business activity or the performance of professional activities. The annual capital income of the applicant should not be less than €9,568.17. In addition, each dependent requires an additional income of at least €4,613.22. The Committee on Migration Control may require additional funds if necessary. Most applicants come under this category, including pensioners.
Application
Submitting the documents means completing an application form M.67, which is submitted directly to the Department of Migration and Civil Registry, or through the branches of the Migration Department, attached to the application documents. Applying for a category F visa, the original documents must be provided confirming the applicant’s income.
Applicants, who are abroad, can apply directly to Cyprus using trusted agents, or through the consular offices of the Republic of Cyprus abroad. Applications will be reviewed by the Committee on Immigration Control, and then sent for approval to the Minister of Internal Affairs.
The residence permit will be automatically canceled if the applicant does not arrive in the Republic of Cyprus within one year from the date of approval of the application, as well as in the case of residence abroad, or the absence of Cyprus for two years.
The application must attach the following list of documents:
1. A copy of a valid passport;
2. A copy of a valid residence permit (if the applicant resides in Cyprus);
3. The employment contract (for category E);
4. CV (including existing academic titles);
5. Income proof (original or certified copy);
6. Certificate from the social security funds for the previous years (original or certified copy);
7. Bank statement (original);
8. Income declaration, derived from sources which are not related to salary (dividends, lease on an existing property, other sources);
9. Medical insurance;
10. Criminal record (if the applicant resides abroad, you must provide a translation with an apostille);
11. A marriage certificate with an official translation;
12. The child’s birth certificate with an official translation.
Visa fee
The state fee for granting an immigration permit is €500 and must be paid when submitting the application.
