The history of the Kalamos Winery
The Kalamos Winery is situated a 20 minutes’ drive away from Paphos, in the traditional wine producing village of Amargeti.
It began its historical journey as a family of vine cultivators and wine producers and eventually grew into a regional family business.
Nicos and his two sons, Thanasis and Michael, have merged modern methods with the traditional to produce limited edition quality wine products.
Dry red wine
Agia Sotira is produced from carefully selected «Mattaro» grapes, lovingly picked from the nearby vineyards which stand at an elevation of 500 meters. It is a light, full bodied wine, with a rich red colour and the typical aroma of this variety of grape.
Best served at 18-20°С, It’s the perfect accompaniment to traditional Cypriot cuisine and cheeses.
Dry\medium sweet rose wine
The superb Cabernet Sauvignon French variety of grape is used to produce many quality wines around the world, and the Alamos Winery use this special variety, cultivated locally, to produce dry and medium sweet rose wine. It’s a very pleasant wine with a clear rose colour, a delicate taste and a strong fruity aroma of raspberries and strawberries.
Best served at 10-12°С, it will nicely complement any light meal or fruit, especially in the summer time.
Dry\medium white wine
This refined, light, fresh, aromatic wine is produced from the local grape variety «Xynisteri», the most popular white grape on the island. The fruity aromas of peach, banana and green apple are easily identified in this pleasant and eminently drinkable white wine.
Best served at 10-12°С this wine can be enjoyed with fruit, light meals or seafood.
Dry red wine
From a French variety of grape this produces a balanced, black velvety wine, with flavours and aromas of raspberry and pepper. This is a pleasant tasting, medium dry wine.
Βest served at 18°С with a rich, hearty meal.
Gerani is an award winning wine, produced from the local grape varieties of «Maratheftiko» (90%) and «Ofthalmo» (10%). Aged in wooden French barrels for twelve months, the wine produced is dry and red, and with a strong flavour and complex aromas of raspberries and black pepper.
Best served at 18°С it is the perfect accompaniment to red meat, game and selected mature cheeses.
Zivania Kalamos is a potent traditional spirit with a robust flavour and light aroma. It is made following an ancient recipe using «Xinisteri» and «Alexandria Muscat» (Malaga), Cypriot grape varieties.
Best served chilled.

Kalamos liqueur wines
A truly unique experience from the Kalamos Winery. The traditional local Zivania has been aged in oak barrels, enriched with caramel, and combined with the flavours of Alexandria Muscat to produce something rare and wonderful.
Best served chilled.
An exquisite combination of alcohol, pomegranate juice and sugar offers you an excellent dessert liqueur for all occasions.
This has the distinction of being the world’s oldest named wine and is the most popular sweet wine of Cyprus. It is is produced from the traditional local varieties of sun-dried grapes, Xynisteri and Mavro, and aged for three years in oak barrels.
Best served as a dessert wine.
